Ashley Kameka
Ashley came to meditation, a soul-mate of yoga, early on as a child who was a tightly wound ball of anxiety. She practiced concentration and calming techniques to get her through stressful times and helped her find sleep at the end of the day. Asana, or physical postures came later during her teen years. They helped Ashley find peace in times of turmoil and help her find grounding and understanding of who she is.

She loves teaching so that she can be present for this amazing birth of the authentic inner self in those that she guides, helping them find balance and healing. Teaching also gives her the opportunity to help others find their way home to a better understanding of life and whatever challenges it may bring, on a physical level or a more subtle level. This path for her will be a lifelong endeavor, equally an opportunity to share her knowledge with others and to be taught by them. The teacher is also a student to the pupil, always.

Ashley has gained her knowledge of both life and yoga in India and North America.  For more info, visit www.seedsoflight.ca.

Dianne Vlasak
Dianne has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and took her first teacher training in 1999.  Since then she has taken further training in pre-natal yoga and yoga anatomy.  She has taught public classes at a number of Calgary yoga studios and wellness centres and moved to Chilliwack in 2009.  She has studied with many teachers including Brian Kest, Sarah Powers, Kathy Nash and Anusara Certified teacher, Desiree Rumbaugh.

'It's amazing to me how yoga can benefit everyone who tries it.  It is something that comes slowly and steadily.  I have learned over the years that your body is instinctive and during practice the mind is taught to follow it!  I enjoy working with all ages and have developed flexibility in working with mixed groups in drop-in classes.  My focus is to create something that can be attained, understood and enjoyed by all in the group!'
The memories I have of my first yoga class are still very clear in my mind, I was a little nervous as I didn’t know what to expect.  I thought that I had to be really flexible to practice yoga, I thought that I had to be really calm free of stress and worries, I thought I had to be fit and healthy with no injuries.  I wasn’t any of these things, but I was willing to give yoga a try.

By the end of the class my worries had disappeared, I realised all of the things that I thought I needed to be, were things that I could become if I practised yoga regularly.  I also knew that from then on I would always do yoga, what I didn’t know was that I would one day be teaching it!

I have been studying yoga since 2002 with Certified Anusara® teacher Bridget Woods-Kramer and founder of Anusara®, John Friend.  I started teaching in 2004 in the UK and since moving to Chilliwack, I have been teaching at a number of venues including The Landings Leisure Centre and the YMCA.

The style of hatha yoga that I study is Anusara®, one of the fastest growing systems in the West.  Founded by American John Friend, Anusara Yoga® is made up of more than 265 poses that bring alignment and balance to both the inner and outer body.  The principals of alignment for the outer body are combined with a spiritually inspiring philosophy for the inner body that originates in the heart, when those aspects are integrated the practice of yoga becomes more than just a physical exercise.  Anusara® means, “flowing with grace”.

I also spent time in India at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in the Southern State of Kerala.  My stay in India built upon the foundations set by my teacher in the UK, and motivated me to continue my journey into yoga.

My teacher, Bridget Woods-Kramer, has been a constant source of inspiration and with her support I have found a passion that will stay with me always. I am forever grateful.

As well as being informative I try to bring a lighthearted atmosphere to my classes.  At the end of each class I want you to feel good about yourself and your achievements, and be looking forward to your next practice.  There are 3 things I ask of you during class, listen to your bodies, stay focused on your breath, but most important of all, to keep smiling.

I feel blessed for the chance to be able to teach yoga. I am inspired by all the people I have met so far, and I look forward to a lifetime of study and self-improvement.  Passing this knowledge on to others is the best way I can think of to thank everyone who has helped me on this amazing journey.
